A few people have asked if I ever work in anything besides Prismacolor pencil. I do. On rare occasion. This was drawn with watersoluble Derwent Graphitone pencils from England, on Canson stock.
Maurice Sendak taught me it’s okay to feel grumpy, even when you aren’t having a particularly bad day, and that to be curious and mischevious is to push the boundaries of wonder and imagination – where anything is possible. His death was a stark reminder that I am now a grown-up, someone who understands the finaility of such events…and my childhood slips just a little further away.
Pencil.........??? my dream is to draw like you do!!!! how many years do you draw...I wish i could go to art school and learn some basics at least... are you a teacher ...coz your art works are Amazingly GREAT!!!!
omg this is nuts! crazy good tone, I've been trying for weeks to learn how to do tone and fur. How do you keep the lines from smudging the tone and the fur uniform? Do you use multiple photos?
Thank you. I'm quite horrible with regular graphite drawing pencils - I smudge all over the place. These were done in Derwent Graphitone pencils which are sort of a cross between graphite and charcoal, don't smudge (or blend all that well), but are water soluble, so you can create washes with them. I used multiple screen stills for reference.
